Check-in starts with location. Hala HR verifies the workplace zone on the phone and again on the server, with individual exemptions for remote employees.

How location checks work

Zones are configured per company as a latitude, a longitude and a radius — 100 metres by default, and anywhere from 10 metres to 100 kilometres. The app checks the device against those zones before it will let anyone check in, and Odoo checks the same rule again on the server, so it holds whether or not the app is the thing asking. People who work remotely are exempted individually rather than by switching the rule off.

Two ways to run it

Hala HR connects to a company's own Odoo, or runs as a managed service for teams that do not have one. The server half ships as an Odoo 19 addon and the app talks to it over JSON-RPC with session authentication. Either way attendance, leave, timesheets, tasks, payslips and documents are live records rather than a copy of them — no nightly sync, and no second database to reconcile. Which of the two a customer runs on is settled during onboarding.

Where the data sits

On a company's own Odoo the employee records never leave it: the app reads and writes that server directly. Signing in goes straight from the phone to it too — the password is sent to your Odoo, never written to the device and never routed through us. Our side only issues the licence, and sees the subscription key, the seat count and a session token used to check them against your server; no HR records reach it. The app carries no analytics, crash-reporting or tracking libraries of any kind, and the session it does keep lives in the platform keychain.
